Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in the Showtime series Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. As a child, she displayed an interest in acting. She won the Best Actress Award at a Maryland High School competition. After her experience in the acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company" She was awarded an acting degree at the New York University. When she was in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become ballet dancer of classical training. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution which focuses on theater and dance. Contractor She had been dancing for over 10 years when she started when she decided to focus on acting. Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of psychology and sociology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year of auditions, she was offered the leading role. The production she appeared in earned praise from Canadian critics. Contractor was given the chance to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, where a select eight men as well as four women can be accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she eagerly took. Contractor's participation in the next season of plays was confirmed, and she received the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
